As a nonprofit organization, you are well aware of the one basic need that connects you to other nonprofits: FUNDING. So, as you can imagine, many organizations ask me: Can you help us get funding?
The answer is: Yes! However, I’m not a fundraiser or a dedicated grant-writer or a development professional. But I do understand what it takes to make your organization more fundable.
For starters, you need high-quality (i.e. beautiful and professional-looking), evidence-based educational materials developed for a specific target audience; a well-designed distribution plan; and solid evaluation data to show your program works.
This is where I come in.
Audience Surveys – Understanding your audience is a critical step in deciding on the direction for your advocacy or educational campaigns.
Campaign Development, Implementation and Evaluation – I can provide strategic guidance on the development and implementation of health education, communication and advocacy initiatives. After assessing needs, we will develop goals, objectives, timelines, action plans and evaluation measures to ensure successful and sustainable health outcomes.
Issue Messaging – Communicating effective and relevant messages to your target audiences can help you increase visibility, mobilize stakeholders, and achieve greater impact. We can work together to ensure that your messages and materials are relevant to your audience and your communication strategy effectively amplifies your messages. This includes helping to develop or update a website, reaching your audience through social media and creating scheduled communications with your e-mail list.
Private Sector and Nonprofit Partnering – Bringing the corporate sector and the nonprofit community together is a way to improve collaboration and leverage resources. Corporations are often seen as a source of funding; however, there are many ways they can contribute to furthering a cause, including making product donations, offering in-kind services, and providing subject matter expertise. Nonprofits offer an expanded audience and can serve as trusted messengers of health information.
Writing and Editing – Educational and marketing materials need to be culturally relevant, appealing to your target audience, and easy to read and understand. I can develop content for various formats and delivery methods.
Survivor to Advocate Training – I can provide group training in story development, presentation skills, media training, and advocacy action plans, as well as one-on-one support to individual survivor advocates.
